The Mexx Escapamentos Esportivos company is officially credited and authorized by the European Ministry of Transport for the export from Brazil to Europe of approved exhaust systems; this approval is valid throughout the European Union. Exhaust systems at Mexx are carried out in accordance with the highest and most severe qualitative standard and guarantee the respect of European and world laws related to the approval of exhaust systems in accordance with Regulation (EU) 134/2014 with regard to Euro 4 vehicles and in accordance with Directive 2002/24 / EC with respect to Euro3 vehicles.

Regarding homologation tests, Mexx uses the technical service of TUV SUD Auto Service GmbH, which interfaces directly with the body responsible for homologation certificates to ensure a high standard of guarantee, quality and safety for the end user.

Exhaust systems that have regular certified ministerial approval are legally usable throughout the European Union.

1.) Is it allowed to use sports exhausts?
There is no law that prohibits the use or regulates the use of sports exhausts, for this reason there are differences in the interpretation of the law, which says that the vehicle cannot have its characteristics changed. However, if we take into account that a sports exhaust fulfills the same functions as an original, that is, to take the engine gases out of the engine safely and continuously, maintaining the engine compression and controlling the noise emission, we have to , what is happening is a simple mistake on the part of the traffic agents in the act of inspection.
Thus, according to CONAMA Resolution No. 252/1999, Article 5:

“§ 1 Exhaust systems, or part of them, may be replaced by similar systems, as long as the new noise levels do not exceed the levels originally obtained and declared by the vehicle manufacturer, according to CONAMA Resolutions 1, 2, and 8, 1993, and those set out in TABLE 1. ”

2.) What differentiates a sports exhaust from an original exhaust?
The sports exhaust is lighter and generally uses more noble materials, except for the most basic models. It has a different and more modern or less common design and are developed to improve the performance of the motorcycle, in addition to producing a more sporty snore.

3.) What standards are exhaust manufacturers subject to, more precisely rules that regulate the level of noise emitted by them?
We currently have:
* CONAMA Resolution nº 256 of June 30, 1999 from CONAMA which, in short, regularizes the inspection of motor vehicles regarding air pollution and noise emission;
* CONAMA Resolution No. 252 of February 1, 1999, which establishes the noise emission table for motor vehicles, as well as the way that the tests must be performed;
* Brazilian Traffic Code - article 280 and paragraph 2. which stipulates that, in an inspection action, the transit agent must carry out tests that prove the adequacy of the exhaust to the standards established in resolution 252 of February 1, 1999;
* NBR9714 / 2000 is the standard that establishes the processes and methods for the measurement of noise levels for exhausts.

4.) Do sports exhaust systems meet noise standards?
It is evident that it would be impossible to generalize this answer, however, it is clear that serious companies in the branch of motorcycle parts replacement have this concern and offer products that meet the specifications required by law.

5.) Is there any noise emission report?
There is no noise report that has any legal value for escapes from the parallel market, as the legislation does not establish a specific standard for these products. The existing reports are only Certificates of Technical Responsibility (CRT) signed by engineers who are responsible for the information contained therein,
however, it is not legally recognized.

6.) Is there a certificate or even a symbol that is placed on the exhaust as proof that it has been subjected to noise emission verification tests?
Only automakers are required to have the certificate to obtain the release (homologation) of the motorcycles' sales. The tests are carried out by private companies and approved by Organs competent bodies, but there are no symbols, marks, stickers or mandatory identifications on the exhausts.

7.) Is there an INMETRO seal?
It does not exist, as INMETRO is not the body responsible for the certification of sports exhausts. There is still no specific regulation for this segment.

8.) What are the bodies responsible for controlling noise emission?
* IBAMA - Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources and
* CETESB - Environmental Sanitation Technology Company.
* CONAMA - National Environment Council.
